The Interview Drill

 

 

RESERVATIONS

Individuals interested in participating in the role of Job Seeker and being interviewed are encouraged, but not required, to have attended at least one prior session. (This way they are familar with the Job Seeker role and can be adequately prepared for their interview).  

 

All Job Seekers should reserve their interview slot in advance to ensure they can be interviewed on a given day.   Interviews for drop in participants may be conducted if they come prepared and time permits.  

 

To reserve your slot, please fill out the signup form to the right or simply send an email to the Interview Drill:

 

• Please use the subject heading of  "RESERVATION - JOB SEEKER"

• Indicate the session date at which you would like to be interviewed  

• Please let us know if you would like to have your interview videotaped for your personal review.  (This requires advance notice).  

 

We will get back to you within 24 hours and confirm your reservation.

PREPARATION

Preparation is the key to a successful interview, whether for the Interview Drill or the real thing.  Job Seekers are expected to come fully prepared to be interviewed, just as they would in the real world. As the Job Seeker you should:

 

• Wear appropriate interview attire for the position you are seeking

• Bring at least two copies of your resume and the job description with you

• Carefully research the position and prepare responses

• Write down and bring 3 personally challenging interview questions, you would like to be asked of you in your interview 

 

Depending on the number of Interviews conducted during the session, a typical interview lasts between 20-30 minutes.  Feedback is based on first impressions, responses to questions, your resume, business knowledge, and attitude.  Feeback sessions last about 15 minutes.  

 

 

VIDEOTAPING

In addition, job seekers being interviewed will need to let us know in advance if they want to be videotaped.  Videotape feedback is only available with an advance reservation.  Please let us know when you reserve your interview slot if you would like your interview to be videotaped for personal review.
